To make the most of this tool we recommend the following:

• Start with setting simple goals that are achievable for the child. The intention is to build a good habit and give the child a sense of achievement when he/she is able to achieve the goal. This will motivate them to continue to progress to the next level.
• Create goals that are multi-dimensional. Doing so will create multiple opportunities for them to succeed and build their confidence. It will also create a variety that will allow them to stay focussed and motivated. Mix up goals with what the child enjoys with what they don’t enjoy that much. The importance of downtime and relaxation must not be ignored.
• It is important for the child to understand the consequences of actions and inactions. Goals and missions are set to promote desirable actions (that will bring them positive outcomes) and discourage negative actions (that will bring them negative outcomes).
• We need to recognise our child’s effort when they achieve their goals or complete all of their daily missions/tasks. We believe that recognitions or rewards doesn’t necessarily have to be monetary or materialistic. This will depend on individual families. The tool allows for all types of rewards mechanisms like:
  • Linking pocket money to missions completed.
  • Using money accumulated to spend on giftcards, experiences, special offers etc (we will keep adding interesting items in which money can be used).
  • Rewards points accumulated.
  • Badges for completing proportion of the task assigned for the month.
  • Ability to ‘Create your Rewards’ as you deem fit. This may include allowing screen time having a picnic, spending family time etc.

Parent and child will set it up from create goals screen. Only Parents will have the ability to create goals. Child will be able to view (not change) the goals using their login.

You will be required to do the following before you can proceed to set up goals-

• Login into the website as a parent
• Set up your child account

There are 2 ways to get to goal setting section-

• Click on the Goals & Missions and then click on Add new goal.
• On the dashboard page click on Add Goals button.

Goal is something that parent and child want to achieve over a period of time. Every Goal must have a start and end date for it to be effective.

Parent and child will set it up from create Missions screen. Only Parents will have the ability to create Missions. Child will be able to view (not change) the missions using their login.

There are 2 ways to get to missions section-

• Click on the Goals & Missions and then click on Add new mission.
• On Goals section within Goals & Missions page click on 'Add Mission’ button.

Missions are tasks and action plan that needs to be set up to achieve a goal. Every Mission must have-

• A goal
• Start and end date
• Notification time for child to do the mission

Goalstar Rewards will be sending Mission Alerts via the Notification Apps and Website starting from early morning every 4 hours to remind your Child of their Missions for the day.

Children will be able to view their Mission using their own login from

• Website- Dashboard page- Missions section
• App- Missions List & Calendar View

Parents will receive Notifications

• Once a day for each Child to inform you if they have done their tasks or not.
• Approve or Reject when the Mission is completed.

Parents will be able to view their Child's Missions from

• Website- Dashboard page- Missions section
• App- Missions List & Calendar View

Children will earn Points on completing a mission successfully and approved by their parents.

Goalstar Rewards will be displaying the list of Mission Tasks with Mission Times set up for the Child. When the Child completes that Mission they will mark it as ‘Done’ using their App or the Website.

Parents will be able to view progress of the missions through their App and the website . They will be required to approve these missions as by clicking the ‘Approve’ button, Goalstar Rewards will award points to the child for the approved missions.

The program has been designed so that mission points cannot be transferred between children. Each child should earn points with their own efforts.

Value of a mission point is defined by the options you have chosen within the program for Monthly budget.

• Using Monthly budget

If you are using Monthly budget/pocket money per child then value of points is calculated using the amount you have entered as monthly budget.

• 1. For value of Points Earned- Monthly budget is equally divided across the total missions for that month.
• 2. For value of Points Used- When requesting rewards, when you enter the dollar amount to be redeemed then Goalstar will calculate the number of points to be deducted.
• 3. For value of Penalty points- When you enter the dollar amount to be taken away then Goalstar will calculate the number of points to be deducted.
   
• Not using Monthly budget

If you are using Monthly budget/pocket money per child then value of points is calculated

• 1. Points Earned- Will not have any dollar value as there is no monthly budget for this child. In this case the child is working for an agreed reward.
• 2. Points Used- When requesting rewards, when you enter the dollar amount to be redeemed then Goalstar will calculate a set number of points to be deducted that will be displayed on the screen.
• 3. Penalty points- When you enter the dollar amount to be taken away then Goalstar will calculate a set number of points to be deducted that will be displayed on the screen.

Each mission and goal must have a fixed timeline. On reaching the given timeline for the mission or Goal if the child has not achieved the mission/goal,

Parents have 3 choices –

• Cancel or delete the Goal or Mission. After cancellation or deletion of the Goal or Mission, the Rewards Points earned till date still remains in the Child’s account.
• Extend the timeline for the Goal or Mission to a future date. This is possible before the Goal or Mission end date.
• Copy an existing Goal that has expired and enter new start and end dates.

I f certain Goal needs to be modified or cancelled due to changed priority before the timeframe,

• Parents have choices of- cancelling, copying or modifying the Goal or Mission
• Cancelling the Goal or Mission if the goal is no longer required. When cancelling the Goal or Mission, the Rewards Points earned so far still remains in the Child’s account.
• Copying a Goal or Mission is useful if the existing Goal or Mission has expired i.e. gone past its end date. You can use Copy if you have created it for one Child and want to create it for another Child.

In certain situation, Parents may wish to extend the timeline for a Goal or Mission. They will be able to do this from the Edit Goal or Edit Mission screens as the case may be, before the end date.

Yes, Points balance can go into negative. Child will have to earn back positive points by showing the right behavior.

You will required to login to your child’s account. From the Dashboard page at the top you will be able to select the themes. Your child can choose from the following themes-

• Lolly Jars
• Graphs
• Dartboards

Each child will work through Goalstar rewards at their own pace.Notifications are designed as a helpful reminder to help give your child a nudge along the way.

If you child is completing missions and goals and able to earn rewards points, this is good progress. If you child is not completing any missions, goals or trying to attain rewards, they may need some extra encouragement and support along the way.

Goalstar rewards has been designed with busy parents in mind. We would encourage parents to sit down and agree on goals, so the child is clear about what they need or would like to achieve and how to break a larger goal into small steps (missions). Discuss also the reward option that will motivate your child.

Children under 10 may need some further assistance with setting up their dashboard, (with their avatar and themes) and how to read the dashboard and tick a mission once completed.

Ensure that the rewards set up is completed and that no penalties have been applied to the missions. If the rewards tally is still not adding up, please contact our Customer Service Team

As a child starts to mature, they begin to understand more about goal planning and how they can set goals that are achievable in many areas of their lives. It is important the child does not feel that goal setting is a negative experience, but a positive one they can do with parent support or they will struggle to feel motivated to participate.

• 4. Please note, this is a free App in Google Play Store and Apple Store.

App is optional.

Same functionality also exists on the website in the Dashboard page. If your child is too young or does not use a mobile phone yet - no problems, they can use other devices to stay on top of their tasks!!
